China has become the world's first lock-up power

In recent years, with the rapid development of China's hardware market, the lock industry has also experienced significant growth. The overall market size for locks has now reached 70 billion yuan, with Zhejiang, Guangdong, Shanghai, and Shandong being the main regions where lock manufacturers are concentrated. This has led to the emergence of industrial clusters in the lock market, which is one of its key characteristics. These clusters consist of a large number of companies, and collectively they contribute to high production volumes. The cluster-based lock market demonstrates strong growth momentum, with high sales figures, impressive export growth rates, and increasing import activity. As a result, China's share in the global lock market is continuously expanding. The development of hardware locks has become increasingly market-oriented. After decades of reform and opening up, the Chinese lock industry—both traditional and emerging—has evolved into modern manufacturing. By the end of 2012, the annual output value of the lock industry had reached 60 billion yuan, solidifying China's position as the world's largest lock producer. However, despite this progress, there are still notable gaps in product quality, R&D capabilities, brand building, and marketing channels. Additionally, total factor productivity and international competitiveness remain areas that need improvement. To move from a major lock manufacturer to a true manufacturing power, Chinese lock companies must continuously enhance their independent innovation, high-end manufacturing capabilities, marketing strategies, and brand influence. Currently, the annual sales volume of locks nationwide exceeds 2.2 billion units. In the commercial market alone, the demand for fingerprint locks is expected to reach 5 million sets annually, used in various sectors such as corporate finance, military and police stations, and office environments. At the same time, the civilian market is also showing growing demand. Whether it’s traditional mechanical locks, modern electronic locks, or access control systems in high-rise buildings, the entire Chinese lock industry is experiencing unstoppable growth and development.
