From Delamination to Litigation: A Decade of Challenges

Over the past ten years, Protrade has faced numerous challenges related to a faulty spray glue product. In this article, our Joint Managing Director, Des Duddy, shares his perspective on the journey from identifying the issue to resolving it through legal action.

The saga began when customers started reporting issues with the adhesive not sticking properly, leading to significant product delamination. At first, we thought it was an isolated incident, but as complaints mounted, it became clear that the problem was systemic. Our team worked tirelessly to identify the root cause, which ultimately traced back to a manufacturing defect in the adhesive formula.

Once the issue was identified, we immediately took steps to address it. This included recalling all affected products, implementing stricter quality control measures, and collaborating with suppliers to ensure future batches were free from defects. However, despite these efforts, some customers felt their trust had been broken, prompting several lawsuits against the company.

The legal battles were long and arduous, requiring extensive documentation and expert testimony. Throughout this period, our commitment to transparency and accountability remained unwavering. We engaged with legal teams, industry experts, and affected parties to reach amicable settlements while reinforcing our dedication to delivering high-quality products.

Today, thanks to the hard work of our team and the support of our customers, Protrade has emerged stronger than ever. We’ve learned valuable lessons about diligence, communication, and continuous improvement. While the journey was challenging, it has strengthened our resolve to provide exceptional service and maintain the trust of our clients.
