The inner ring groove width S shown in Fig. 1 is sometimes inconvenient to measure with a universal measuring tool. Figure 2 shows our self-made spherical probe. The probe is placed on a micrometer fixed amount of anvil to measure the groove width in the hole. The measuring principle is the bow high string method. Change the known amount in the calculation formula. If (?)R and the bow height h are known, the chord length can be measured indirectly:
