ADI Releases Industry's First PLL Frequency Synthesizer with High-Voltage Charge Pump

Analog Devices, Inc. Announces Industry's First PLL Frequency Synthesizer with High-Voltage Charge Pump. The ADF4113HV integer-division frequency synthesizer is designed for use in voltage-controlled oscillators (VCOs) that require wide frequency tuning range and high tuning voltage (15 V). The ADF4113HV is ideally suited for product designs such as Personal Mobile Radio (PMR) and communications test equipment. With the addition of a new charge pump, the high-voltage VCO can be controlled directly through a passive loop filter, eliminating the need for an active loop filter, reducing bill of materials (BOM) costs and reducing noise and current consumption. The ADF4113HV is fully pin-to-pin compatible with other integer frequency PLL synthesizers from Analog Devices, Inc., and complements the ADF4113 in those applications where a wide frequency tuning range is required but can not use active loop filters or can not tolerate active loop filters Increased costs and the number of components caused by the lack of applications. ADI offers the popular ADI simPLL® design and simulation software also supporting the ADF4113HV, which greatly simplifies and enhances the design efficiency of loop filters, available for free download at "Analog Devices is demonstrating its leadership in RF by continuously adding product offerings and offering products with increasing performance levels," said Christian Kermarrec, vice president of RF and Wireless Systems at Analog Devices. "The introduction of the ADF4113HV enables design engineers to achieve the wide operating voltage range and precise tuning levels they require while saving them a great deal of time and money." About the ADF4113HV PLL Frequency Synthesizer The ADF4113HV operates from 200 MHz to 4 GHz Frequency range, supply voltage range from 2.7 V to 5.5 V. The device includes a low noise phase detector (PFD), a precision high voltage charge pump, a programmable reference divider, programmable A counter and B counter, and a dual modulus preset divider (P / P + 1). Control all of the on-chip registers through a simple three-wire interface. The ADF4113HV also features two optional charge pump current settings and a digital phase lock detector. Pricing and Availability The ADF4113HV is available now in quantities of $ 2.46 per unit in 1000s.
