Australian CMT Develops Pipe Injection Technology

Continuous Moulding Technologies Pty, Baranduda, Australia. Ltd. The "infinite length" technology developed by the company (CMT) has enabled the injection molding of profiles and pipes. The technology has been patented in the United States.

The inventor Michael Privan was a senior molder. His invention was originally to produce a structural core with a diameter of 50 mm and a length of 6 meters for the textile winding industry. Privan invented a tool and made the necessary minor improvements to the machinery and equipment to develop infinitely long molding technology.

Nowadays, the high-speed winding industry still has a market. CMT claims that its polypropylene core material has lower price and better stability than standard structural paperboard. The volume occupied by the production of pipes using this process is very small and can be used at the workplace as a portable pipeline production line. The process also enables continuous molding of long fiber materials.

In addition, mold sections, core withdrawals, and mold release injection molding techniques can produce different sizes of profiles or tubes. CMT has tested glass reinforced nylon pressure pipes for natural gas.
