Scientists reveal new directions for underground oil flow and mileage

In order to eliminate the influence of the above factors, the researchers re-diluted the information of the compounds concentrated by biodegradation, and based on the principle of material balance and adsorption theory in the process of oil flow, “reconverted to build”, abandoned the original single Based on the empirical method of finding compounds to judge the oil flow situation, a new molecular index that eliminates the influence of maternal source and reflects only the oil flow situation, the secondary transport fractionation index and its calculation method are established.

The study found that the content of trace polar compounds can be linearly related to maturity of maternal source, and exponentially decays with the flow range of petroleum.

The application results of new indicators and methods in the Ordos Basin of China and the Western Canada Basin show that the index is consistent with the measured data, and also proves the principle of differential accumulation of oil and gas enrichment zones in the theory of hydrocarbon accumulation and reveals the southwestern Ordos Basin. The distribution of oil and gas in the eastern part of the eastern part of the country provides an important basis.
