Advantages of Direct Laying of High-Temperature Prefabricated Direct-Buried Insulation Pipes:
1. Cost Reduction in Projects
According to calculations from relevant authorities, the double-regulated heating pipeline can typically reduce construction costs by about 25% when using FRP as a protective layer and by 10% when using high-density polyethylene. This makes it a more economical choice for large-scale heating projects.
2. Low Heat Loss and Energy Saving
The thermal conductivity of high-temperature prefabricated direct-buried insulation pipes is between 0.013–0.03 kcal/m·h·°C, which is significantly lower than that of other commonly used insulation materials. This results in an insulation effect that is 4 to 9 times better. Additionally, its water absorption rate is very low, around 0.2 kg/m². This is due to the high closed-cell ratio of the polyurethane foam, which reaches approximately 92%. Combined with the excellent insulation and waterproofing properties of the high-density polyethylene or FRP protective shell, this design eliminates the traditional problem of "wet cotton quilting" in trench-laid heating pipes. As a result, the overall heat loss is greatly reduced, with the heat network's total loss being only 2%, far below the international standard of 10%.
3. Excellent Corrosion Resistance, Insulation Performance, and Long Service Life
The high-temperature prefabricated direct-buried insulation pipe offers strong corrosion resistance because the polyurethane rigid foam insulation layer is tightly bonded to the steel pipe’s outer skin, preventing air and moisture from penetrating. The closed-cell structure of the foam also ensures minimal water absorption. The high-density polyethylene or FRP casing provides additional protection against corrosion, insulation, and mechanical damage. Therefore, the working steel pipe is well protected from external elements. With proper internal water treatment, these pipes can last over 50 years—three to four times longer than traditional trench or overhead installations.
4. Smaller Land Use, Faster Construction, and Environmental Friendliness
Direct burial eliminates the need for large trenches, reducing land use and excavation work by about 50%. It also cuts down on civil engineering and concrete usage by up to 90%. Moreover, the installation process allows for parallel processing of insulation pipes and on-site trenching, with only on-site joints needing attention, significantly shortening the construction period. By minimizing the transportation of building materials like bricks, cement, sand, and gravel, the project reduces vehicle emissions, dust, and noise pollution, making it a more environmentally friendly option.
5. Enhanced Safety
In addition to the high-temperature prefabricated direct-buried insulation pipes produced outside China, which include leak alarm lines, these systems can detect leaks quickly. If a leak occurs, the alarm line sends signals to a specialized device, showing the exact location and severity of the leak. This helps maintenance personnel respond promptly, ensuring the safe operation of the heating network. Domestic insulation pipes currently come equipped with leak alarm lines but require filling.
