China’s Edible Agricultural Products and Contaminant Traceability Technology Achievements at the Leading Level in the World

On June 28th, Ben Wang reporter learned from the results appraisal held by the Science and Technology Administration of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences in Beijing, hosted by the Institute of Agricultural Products Processing of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and cooperating with Southeast University and the Institute of Biotechnology of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. The results of the traceability technology of edible agricultural products and contaminants passed the expert committee's appraisal. The research results can provide powerful technical support for governments at all levels to improve the supervision and control of food safety, promote the country's effective supervision and management of the food industry, and improve the international competitiveness of China's agricultural products.

According to Professor Wei Yimin, director of the Institute of Agricultural Products Processing at the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the fundamental purpose of food traceability is to trace back the sources of pollution in order to take decisive measures in food safety incidents, minimize the scope of recalls, and minimize risks and economic losses. The traceability technology of edible agricultural products is an information record and information traceability system established in the process of production, processing, storage, transportation, sale and consumption of edible agricultural products, that is, tracking the process from the farmland to the table or tracing the source of hazardous materials from the table to the farmland; Traceability technology refers to the traceability technique for the purpose of investigating the source or forensics of hazards. The traceability technology of edible agricultural products and contaminants is an effective measure for food safety risk management.

Wei Yimin told reporters that the traceability technology of edible agricultural products and contaminants can meet the recall of food safety management, investigation of liability accidents and supervision of the production process, as well as consumers’ demands for transparency in the right to know and the production process, and support the national food safety supervision and crackdown on counterfeiting. Technical requirements to protect fair trade. The traceability technology of edible agricultural products and contaminants can be applied to track the production process of edible agricultural products production enterprises; the food safety management department supervises the food production information, origin protection products and recall of “problem food”; and the food safety management department investigates food safety accidents. , forensics and responsibility identification; detection or evidence collection of cases; consumer inquiries and informed services.

It is understood that the research group has developed a single technology system development based on an in-depth study of basic theoretical issues, using statistical analysis and information technology, and a process analysis of the industrial chain of traceable objects, and integrated related technologies for the entire edible agricultural product industry chain. Traced back to the source to complement each other and improve each other, a complete, distinctive and intellectual property food agricultural products and contaminant traceability technology system has been established.

Through this technical study, it is theoretically demonstrated that oxtail hair can replace beef as a research material for the establishment of a traceable isotope database for beef origins, solving the problem that the establishment of a beef traceability database requires the sampling and analysis of large quantities of beef cattle samples, and has established the world’s first Oxtail tail isotope fingerprint database; through the implementation of cattle model control feeding feed, for the first time proved that the cow tail hair is an archive record of the life history of cattle, supporting the idea of using cow's tail hair samples to establish a beef cattle traceability isotope fingerprint library. This technical topic also demonstrated the feasibility of using lead isotope fingerprint analysis technology to analyze the source of lead pollution from plant-derived foods, and initially established a calculation method for lead pollution source contribution rate.

Through the implementation of this technical project, we established isotopic fingerprinting of cattle and mutton, traceability techniques for trace elements of minerals and traceability databases, and traceability techniques for near-infrared spectroscopy of tea origins in traceability studies of origins of edible agricultural products; Established individual iris recognition and traceability techniques for cattle, sheep, and pigs, as well as DNA fingerprinting and traceability techniques for individual pigs. In the traceability of electronic labels, food classification technology, food code technology, barcode technology, computer technology, and electronic label technology were established. , network technology as a whole electronic food labeling traceability technology system of edible agricultural products, and on the basis of the above-mentioned technology development, established a food pollution traceability system and query including origin traceability, contaminant traceability, individual animal traceability and electronic label traceability. platform.

The expert appraisal committee unanimously believes that the research results of this topic are at the leading international level, and it is recommended that after the technology is expanded and perfected, it will accelerate demonstration and promotion in key industries. (Author: Liangbao Zhong)
