FRX Polymers has launched a range of non-halogenated flame retardants under the brand name Nofia.
The non-halogenated flame retardant product is suitable for high temperature polyurethane soft foam in transportation, electronics and other industries.
The Nofia flame retardants (FRs) are non-halogenated polyphosphonates which may be added in powder form or as a liquid polyol solution. It can be used as a flame retardant and a heat stabilizer to make the polyurethane soft foam meet the UL94V-0 fireproof standard. According to the company, the foam added to the flame retardant retains its mechanical properties after a heat aging test at 150 degrees Celsius.
Applications include under-the-hood hoods, cushions and gaskets for electric vehicle battery packs, and foams for reducing noise, vibration and harshness in various transport components. It can also be used for gaskets for electrical and electronic components in accordance with UL94V-0.
During the development process, FRX worked with its customers to find alternative materials for expandable graphite in the automotive PU hood disposable PU foaming process.
Ina Jiang, vice president of sales and marketing for FRX Polymers, said: "The advantages of our unique non-halogenated flame retardants have been proven to provide key advantages in addition to flame retardancy in a variety of applications.
