Hangzhou Zhongce Rubber Factory Inadvertently Causes Fire by Inadverting Welding

Recently, the Hangzhou Fire-Fighting Omi Squadron received an urgent call from the command center regarding a fire at the Zhongce Rubber Plant located on Qijiang Road, near Qiutao Road. As soon as the alert was received, the squadron quickly mobilized 20 firefighters along with 5 additional personnel to respond to the incident. In addition, the Drum Tower and Lakeside Fire Services were also dispatched to provide support. The first fire trucks arrived at the scene at 12:01 PM. Upon arrival, the firefighters observed that the fire had broken out on the top floor of an old production and processing area within the Zhongce Rubber Factory. A cooling tower had caught fire, causing thick smoke to spread across the site. Many workers were seen trying to assist themselves during the early stages of the fire. After assessing the situation, the squadron commander issued immediate orders. The lead unit was deployed to the top floor, where firefighters used water cannons to suppress the flames. The second unit was assigned to secure the perimeter and prevent unauthorized people from approaching. The fourth unit was tasked with supplying water to the front line, ensuring a continuous flow for firefighting efforts. The remaining vehicles stood by as backup. As the operation began, firefighters quickly laid out water hoses and directed them toward the roof to tackle the blaze. With sustained water application, the fire was brought under control within minutes. To prevent any re-ignition, the team thoroughly cooled down the cooling tower and surrounding areas. By 12:20 PM, the fire had been completely extinguished. According to preliminary reports, the Zhongce Rubber Factory has already relocated to Xiasha, Qiutao Road, and the current site is in the process of being demolished. The fire was reportedly caused by welding work being carried out on-site. Authorities are currently investigating the exact cause of the incident. No casualties have been reported so far.
