Yuan blue and white porcelain is divided into two shades, one is gray-blue, lighter, and the other is dark blue, more beautiful. In the traditional concept, the gray-blue is the domestic material, and the blue-colored one is the imported material. Imported green materials are used for large, medium or small-sized blue and white flowers, and domestic cobalt materials are only used for medium and small scales.
(1) Imported cobalt material: imported cobalt material, that is, Su Ma is green, and the ingredients of imported cobalt material in the Yuan Dynasty are low manganese, high iron, sulfur and arsenic, no copper and nickel, and green materials of Tang and Song blue and blue and blue flowers. The composition is different, the painted blue pattern is rich and dark, with purple-brown or dark-brown light spots, and some dark brown spots show "tin light."
"Silver" is a natural luster that appears in dark brown spots and has a concavo-convex feeling, which is due to the change of the blue-flowered material during the high-temperature firing process and the glaze melting. There is also a "tin light" in the modern imitation of the blue and white flowers, but the "tin light" of the imitation is like a piece of silver-gray film applied to the blue-black spots. Some spots are dense and give a stiff feeling.
In addition, Su Ma has the following characteristics:
1, is a bright indigo, slightly different degrees of purple, some very elegant violet.
2, there are thick and light color steps, the outline is deeper, and the coloring green material is lighter. There are blue-black or blue-brown spots on the green material, and the glaze is concave and matte.
3, the green material is finer, the edge of the line is slightly dizzy. Some of them are heavy in color and have radial flow. See blue-black crystal or crystal line, which should be caused by coarser green particles. There were similar phenomena in Yongle and Xuande blue and white in the early Ming Dynasty.
(2) Domestic green material: The domestic green material used by Yuanqinghua is made of high manganese and high aluminum, which is very different from the imported materials at the same time. The blue pattern depicted is colored blue gray or blue black, see dark color. Order, the accumulation of green material has blue-brown or yellow-brown spots, dark brown spots are less. If the manganese content is too high, the blue pattern is blue and slightly reddish, and the glaze is concave and matte.
Whether it is domestic or imported materials, the overall picture of the blue pattern is affected by the kiln temperature, but it is observed with a magnifying glass, giving a clear and deep feeling. Look at the blue and white color, it is "live", there is a lively "flowing" in the rich place.
