The EVa resin is an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, and the content of vinyl acetate (Va) is generally 5% to 40%. Compared with polyethylene, EVA is widely used in foaming shoes due to the introduction of vinyl acetate monomer in the molecular chain, which reduces high crystallinity, improves flexibility, impact resistance, filler compatibility and heat sealing performance. Because EVA resin blended foamed products have softness, good elasticity and chemical resistance, they are widely used in the soles and interior materials of medium and high-grade sneakers, hiking shoes, slippers and sandals. In addition, this material is also used in the field of acoustic panels, gym mats and sealing materials. China's Guangdong Shunde, Zhongshan, Fujian's Jinjiang, Quanzhou and Zhejiang's Wenzhou are the main production bases of China's footwear industry, consuming a large amount of EVA resin products every year. In 1999, China's foamed shoe materials and shock absorption fields consumed about 150kt of EVa resin.
(2) film
The main use of EVa films is in the production of functional shed films. The functional shed film has high weather resistance, anti-fog drop and heat preservation performance. Since polyethylene has no polarity, even if a certain amount of anti-fog drops are added, its anti-fog performance can only last for about 2 months; Adding a certain amount of EVa resin to the shed film not only has a high light transmittance, but also has a large progress in anti-fog performance, generally more than 4 months. In addition, EVa can also be used to produce packaging films, medical films, laminate films, cast films, and the like.
In 1999, there were more than 50 companies in China that used EVA resin to process films. In 1999, China produced a total of 800kt of shed film, of which 220kt of functional shed film, about 30kt of EVa resin was consumed, plus packaging film, medical film and other fields. China consumed 37kt of EVa resin in the film field.
(3) Wire and cable
With the continuous development of computer and network engineering, halogen-free flame-retardant cables and silane cross-linked cables are increasingly used for the safety of computer rooms. Since EVA resin has good filler inclusion and crosslinkability, it is used more in halogen-free flame-retardant cables, semiconductor shielded cables, and two-step silane cross-linked cables. In addition, EVA resin is also used to make jackets for some special cables. The EVA resin used in wire and cable has a vinyl acetate content of generally 12% to 24%. In 1999, the wire and cable industry consumed about 6,000 tons of EVa.
(4) Toys
EVa resin also has many applications in toys, such as children's wheels and seat cushions. In recent years, China's toy processing industry has developed rapidly, and its production is concentrated in the coastal areas of Dongguan, Shenzhen, Shantou and other places, mainly in export and external processing. According to analysis, these manufacturers consume about 5,000 tons of EVa resin per year, and the grades used are basically the same as those used for shoe materials.
(5) hot melt adhesive
The hot melt adhesive with EVA resin as the main component is widely used in books, wireless binding, furniture edge banding, automobiles and household appliances because it contains no solvent, does not pollute the environment and has high safety. It is very suitable for automated assembly line production. Assembly, shoemaking, carpet coating and metal anti-corrosion coating.
Hot melt adhesives mainly use varieties with a vinyl acetate content of 25% to 40%. Although there are products of this grade in China, they have not been arranged for production for a long time, so they are all occupied by imported materials. In 1999, China's hot melt adhesive field estimated to consume 17kt of EVa resin.
(6) Others
EVa resin is also widely used in the fields of inks, bags, bottle covers, etc. It is estimated that these aspects consume no less than 15 kt of EVa resin.
