How to prepare plant feed

(1) Grain Feed: The grain is first ground into a fine powder and the outer husk is removed. It is recommended to use a mix of different cereals, such as cornmeal, soy noodles, and wheat noodles, in a ratio of 2:1:1. This mixture can be cooked into a nest-like shape or baked into cakes. One kilogram of grain flour can produce approximately 1.8 to 2 kilograms of cooked feed. Small farms can use simple methods like hand-pasting cereal cakes, while larger operations may use cooking pots or ovens for processing. For small-scale breeders raising fur animals, it's advisable to cook the grain flour in advance. Fried noodles should be soaked in water at a 1:1.5 to 2 ratio for about two hours before being added to the mixed feed. Alternatively, the grain flour can be made into porridge and blended into the daily diet. (2) Vegetable Feed: Fresh vegetables should be cleaned thoroughly, with all dirt, roots, and rotten parts removed. They should then be washed, chopped, and fed directly. Tomatoes, zucchini, and leafy greens work well when combined. It is crucial not to store large quantities of leafy vegetables or soak them for extended periods, as this can lead to nitrite poisoning. Leafy vegetables should not be soaked in water for more than four hours. Also, avoid mixing freshly washed vegetables with hot feed. In winter, high-quality frozen vegetables or stored kohlrabi and cabbage can be used, but any spoiled parts must be carefully removed. In spring, potato sprouts or buds contain higher levels of solanine and should be partially removed. The remaining parts should be fully cooked before feeding to prevent poisoning in fur-bearing animals. Always ensure that the feed is properly prepared and safe to maintain the health of the animals.
