Imports of polyethylene increased significantly in the first half of 2018

In the first half of 2018, China's imports of polyethylene were about 7.188 million tons, an increase of 27.64%. At the beginning of the year, the plastics prohibition order and environmental protection tax were implemented one after another. Enterprises that did not meet environmental protection requirements were rectified and discontinued. The output of recycled PE dropped sharply. In addition, the centralized maintenance of domestic petrochemical plants in May led to a significant increase in the import of polyethylene in the first half of the year.

From the perspective of the proportion, the import low pressure accounted for 48.63%, the import linear ratio accounted for 29.35%, the high pressure import volume accounted for the smallest proportion, and its import volume accounted for 21.10% of the total PE import volume.

The export volume dropped significantly

In the first half of 2018, China's polyethylene exports declined significantly. According to statistics, China's polyethylene exports in the first half of 2018 were about 109,400 tons, down 16.93% year-on-year. The decline in exports in the first quarter was more obvious.
