New Applications of Different Types of Self-Lubricating Bearings
Self-lubricating bearings are increasingly being used in a wide range of industrial applications due to their ability to reduce friction and maintenance needs. 1. SF-2 Boundary Lubricated Bearing: This type of bearing is made from an acid-resistant polymethyl aldehyde material, known for its high wear resistance. It is particularly suitable for high-load rotational motion at low speeds, as well as for shaking or intermittent motion under heavy load. Unlike traditional bearings, it does not rely on a fluid film for smooth operation, and can function effectively even with minimal lubrication. It is commonly used in metallurgical, mining, water conservancy, automotive, construction, and agricultural machinery.
2. Oil-Free Self-Lubricating Bearing: This bearing is constructed using a steel plate base, with a middle layer of sintered bronze powder and a surface layer composed of a mixture of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and lead. It offers a low coefficient of friction, excellent wear resistance, and corrosion resistance. Since it requires no additional lubrication, it reduces costs, noise, and the risk of sticking or slipping. It is widely used in sliding parts of various machines, such as printing presses, textile machines, hydraulic pallet trucks, tobacco equipment, medical devices, fitness equipment, micro motors, cars, and motorcycles.
3. Metal-Based Solid Self-Lubricating Bearing: This innovative bearing combines the properties of traditional metal bearings with those of self-lubricating bearings. It uses a metal matrix as the base, and is coated with a specially formulated solid lubricant that provides long-lasting lubrication. It has a high load capacity, good impact resistance, and is heat-resistant. Its self-lubricating properties make it ideal for use in harsh environments where frequent maintenance is not feasible.
4. Traditional Oil-Impregnated Bearings: These bearings have been popular for their low noise levels and self-lubricating properties. They have become a favorite choice for computer CPU fans and are increasingly used in household appliances as demand for quieter operation grows. Their widespread use highlights their reliability and effectiveness in reducing maintenance and operational costs.
