It is important to realize that such incidents are more emotionally challenging for less experienced rescuers and that such incidents should be included as part of prior planning and training when considering team effectiveness. This should be called part of the assessment.
In some countries, when a major accident occurs, there will be a period of stagnation in the rescue operations during a certain police investigation. It is important to remember that when faced with this situation, it is the rescuer's responsibility to keep all evidence on site.
Precautions for determining a major accident:
1. Communicate with the police when starting any work at the scene.
2. Do not move anything on the scene unless it is dangerous to safety. If you must move something, make a record and communicate with the police.
3. Do not use hydraulic hose to flush equipment. This may destroy the evidence.
4. Consider leaving the scene after completing the accident investigation work and returning to the scene when needed (this can reduce the pressure on rescue workers).
Once the investigation department completes its work, it is usually the rescue team that completes the physical recovery of the wounded. Remember that the same danger exists in the scene, but the accident dynamics are completely different, that is, rescuers are usually not as excited as usual. In this case, consider a more deliberate approach to ensure safety and protect the dignity of the deceased.
