Physical Agriculture: Making Agricultural Products "Happy" and "Green"

Can tomato understand music? Can strawberry strawberry production increase production? Pigs, cows and sheep listen to "symphony" become leisurely happy? Enclosure on the "space electric field" can reduce livestock and poultry diseases? The absurd move that was regarded as "deviant" many years ago is now being used more and more widely in the actual production of agriculture and has received tangible economic benefits. Today, they are increasingly recognized by researchers and producers and have a common name—physical agriculture.

Physical agriculture technology is magical and real

Many villagers in Yanling Village, Guangmingshan Town, Zhuanghe City, Liaoning Province, have planted strawberries for many years. The reporter saw in the shed that there were several green “sounds” placed in the strawberry groves, and the sound of “squeaking” was issued from time to time. According to the villagers, this is a sonic wave instrument, with seven or eight bands, with adjustable sounds. It applies not only to strawberries, but also to cucumbers, tomatoes and other vegetables. Since the application of sonic wave booster last year, not only has the output increased by more than one-third, but also because of its large fruit size and good taste, it can also be listed two weeks ahead of schedule and the selling price is much higher. Now villagers are consciously using this kind of instrument and appreciate its magical effect.

In fact, the acoustic wave booster is one of the physical agriculture technical equipments. In the industry, the corresponding technology is called the plant audio frequency control technology. This technique can be simply understood as a plant "listening to music," but it is different from the music heard by human ears, but it is a kind of sound wave, so it is also said that sound waves contribute to technology. This technology is currently one of the core technologies for the development of physical agriculture science and technology. It stimulates the vitality of vegetables through sound waves, enhances the resistance of plants and increases crop yields. It is understood that the Wuxi City in Jiangsu Province, an area where physical agriculture technology was studied earlier, established an experimental base as early as 2004, applying the technology of sonic waves to the production of crops such as grapes, watermelons, corn, and peaches. Years of experiments have shown that using this technology, crop yields can be increased by at least 10% and quality is better.

As a new and magical technology, our country's agricultural experts are also actively studying. Zhao Zhichao, the Institute of Crop Science at the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, said that the institute is committed to applying existing physical agriculture techniques to rice cultivation. For example, there is a 948 project that tracks the characteristics of Japan’s advanced physical agriculture techniques and studies the Crop seeds are disinfected with the same effect as conventional chemical disinfection, but they are more environmentally friendly.

Dr. Zhao Zhichao said that in terms of integrated pest management, physical agricultural technology has been widely recognized. The use of lights and electricity to trap and kill pests is both biological and physical. It is primarily the use of physical properties of light to achieve the purpose of trapping and killing pests. Zhao Zhichao said that with the intensification of the Earth's atmospheric greenhouse effect, there is an increasingly market for physical agricultural technologies. For example, rice may be exposed to high temperatures before and after maturation, and it is very easy to produce high temperature barriers. The main manifestation is the reduction of seed setting rate, the increase of milky white kernels and broken rice grains and affecting the quality of rice. Now China has introduced a technology that uses water to reduce the temperature of the ground from Japan, thereby reducing the impact of high temperatures on rice.

The important way to develop ecological agriculture

Physical agriculture is in its infancy, but what is physical agriculture? The industry has not yet reached a particularly unanimous consensus, but most of them tend to think that applying physics knowledge such as electricity, magnetism, sound, optics, heat, nuclear, and other high technologies to agricultural production, and processing crops through specific technological methods to make them To achieve the goal of increasing production, quality, disease resistance and efficiency, this is physical agriculture.

Dr. Zhao Zhichao believes that in practical production, physical technology can be applied as much as possible, because it can effectively reduce the harm of fertilizers and chemical pesticides on soil, atmosphere and water, and protect human health. Excessive use of fertilizers and chemical pesticides can also easily mutate pests. According to reports in the Japanese media, after many years of herbicide use, some weeds are mutated and they are resistant to herbicides, and some pests have also undergone variations and drug resistance has increased. Studies have found that some bacteria and fungi also produce drug resistance. Zhao Zhichao said that physical agriculture technology does not have this problem. For example, mulch film coverage is also a kind of physical agriculture technology. We can still use it to make weeds unable to grow. Another example is rice paddy cover technology used in paddy fields. When the weeds start sprouting, they are covered with rice bran and the weeds die.

Dr. Zhao Zhichao believes that the main influence on the development of organic agriculture is chemical pesticides. Due to the excessive use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, environmental pollution has been increasing year by year, affecting the quality of agricultural products and the sustainable development of agriculture. As a result, ecological agriculture came into being. Physical agriculture is one of the main ways to achieve ecological agriculture.

Physical agriculture has much to offer, but at the moment there are some issues that require attention. Dr. Zhao Zhichao believes that because the research on physical agriculture technology is not yet systematic at the current stage, institutions of higher education, scientific research institutions and various disciplines are fighting each other and their forces are scattered, and they are far from being integrated into one synergy for research and development. It is advisable for the government to guide cross-departmental and multidisciplinary collaborations in order to integrate resources and form more effective combat capabilities. Also, the content of physical agriculture technology is rich and varied. What are the principles and functions of each technology? Which crops apply? ... Many questions have yet to be sorted out. Further systematic research should be conducted to scientifically assemble various physical technologies to form a system that translates into real productivity.
