Aluminum alloy doors and windows specification installation and construction process

Aluminum alloy windows and doors are known for their bright, oxidized surface and sleek appearance. The large frame allows for a significant amount of glass to be used, which enhances natural lighting inside the space and creates a strong visual contrast between the interior and exterior. This not only improves the aesthetics of the living area but also adds depth and richness to the overall design. Due to its high extrusion performance and precise profile, aluminum alloy is widely used in modern home renovations. Below is a detailed guide on the standard installation process for aluminum alloy doors and windows.

The installation process includes several key steps: line positioning, draping installation, anti-corrosion treatment, window frame installation, fixing, gap treatment, glass installation, and hardware fitting. Each step plays an important role in ensuring the durability and functionality of the final product.

Line Positioning

(1) Based on the design drawings, measure the position, size, and elevation of the door and window openings. Use the centerline of the opening as a reference. For multi-story or high-rise buildings, use a plumb line or theodolite to mark the edges at each level. Any uneven areas should be chiseled to ensure straight lines.

(2) The horizontal position of the window should be measured using a +50cm indoor floor line. Ensure the elastic line is straight and consistent across all floors to maintain uniform window height.

Aluminum Window Draping Installation

Fix the draping according to the construction drawings, making sure it is correctly positioned and securely installed.

Anti-Corrosion Treatment

(1) If the design specifies anti-corrosion treatment for the outer surface of the window frame, follow those instructions. Otherwise, apply an anti-corrosion coating or plastic film to prevent direct contact between cement mortar and the aluminum surface, which could lead to electrochemical corrosion.

(2) When using iron parts for fixation, it's best to choose stainless steel components to avoid rust and corrosion. If non-stainless steel parts are used, they must be properly treated before installation.

Installation of Aluminum Alloy Doors and Windows

Install the frame based on the pre-marked positioning lines. Adjust the horizontal, vertical, and diagonal dimensions to meet quality standards, then temporarily fix with wooden wedges.

Fixation of Aluminum Alloy Doors and Windows

(1) If the wall has pre-embedded iron parts, weld the window feet directly to them, and apply rust-proofing to the welding area.

(2) In cases where no embedded iron is present, use metal or plastic expansion bolts to secure the window feet to the wall.

(3) For walls without embedded iron, drill a hole of 80mm depth and 6mm diameter, insert a 6mm steel bar coated with 108 cement slurry, and then weld the window foot to the steel bar once it’s set.

Treatment of the Gap Between the Frame and Wall

(1) After installation and fixation, conduct a hidden works inspection. Once approved, fill the gaps between the window frame and wall according to the design specifications.

(2) If no specific design is provided, use elastic insulation materials or glass wool felt strips to fill the gaps. Leave a 5–8mm groove on the surface to apply sealant or caulk.

Installation of the Door and Window Sash and Glass

(1) Install the sash and glass after the surrounding wall decoration is complete.

(2) Place the sliding sash into the frame channel and adjust the gap accordingly.

(3) Assemble the swing door by placing the glass into the frame, adjusting the gap, inserting the sealing strip, and applying the sealant.

(4) For floor spring doors, install the door frame and ground spring first, then place the glass into the frame and secure it with sealing strips and sealant.
