High-speed pumps and multi-stage pumps, both domestically and internationally, have distinct performance and structural features. According to Table 3-6, domestic high-speed pumps exhibit specific characteristics in terms of performance and design. In contrast, foreign high-speed pumps, particularly diaphragm pumps, are mainly produced by companies such as SUNDSTRAND from the United States, SUNDSTRAND France, and a joint venture between SUNDSTRAND and a Japanese company. These pumps are commonly referred to as SUNDYNE pumps. The SUNDYNE pump successfully applied the high-speed single-stage centrifugal pump technology originally developed for aerospace applications to the industrial sector. With its unique appearance and internal structure, it has become a leading manufacturer of high-speed centrifugal pumps globally.
In addition to high-speed pumps, multi-stage pumps are also widely used, especially for high-head and low-flow applications. As shown in Table 3-7, most of the multi-stage pump series use an axial open structure. Sulzer's two series of pumps complement each other, offering a broad range of performance with balanced axial and radial forces, which is common in open axial pumps. On the other hand, China's YD multi-stage pumps have very low flow rates and have already completely overlapped with the typical operating range of high-speed pumps. While these pumps are more cost-effective, their efficiency is slightly lower compared to high-speed pumps. Overall, the development of both high-speed and multi-stage pumps continues to evolve, meeting the diverse needs of various industries worldwide.
